My son is big fan of sesame seeds rice. Since he is in Army these days whenever he comes back home he ask for it. Other day when I was talking to my sis she was talking about making long beans rice. When I asked for recipe I realized it is closer to sesame seeds. She was recommending to use black sesame seeds. I loved the flavour. Most importantly my son loved it. It is perfect for left over rice too. Do try this esp. this will go well for lunch box. Perfect recipe for bachelors too. I have used brown rice you can use your favourite rice.


Cooked rice - 2 cups
Long beans - 3/4 cup
Black sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
Urad dal - 1 tablespoon
Red chili -3-5 (adjust to spice level)
Salt to taste
Sesame oil - 2 teaspoons
Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds -1/2 teaspoon
curry leaves - 10
Garlic - 4 pods (chopped)
Onion - 1 sliced thinly
Hing - generic pinch
idli powder - 1 tablespoon (optional)


Dry roast sesame seeds, urad dal, red chili till slight brown color. Let it cool down and grind to coarse powder. Run in blender use pulse option. Keep it aside

Heat oil. Add mustard seeds let it pop. Add urad dal and fry till brown color. Add garlic, Onion, Curry leaves, Salt and hing. Fry till slight brown color. Add Long beans and salt.
Cook it. Once done Add cooked rice
Add sesame powder and idli podi (if using) mix well. Cook for 3-5 mins at low flame, Once done switch it off
Serve hot
