udupi famous food uppu huli dosa - Sweet, spicy and tangy dosa - Famous Karnataka dosa recipe

I had this dosa in one of restaurant and initially thought it is ada then when I checked with my Bangalorean friend she told me it is from Mangalore (udupi  cuisines) I love the combination of almost all flavours in this .. This can be served by itself without any side dish or with simple coconut chutney. .Do try it out
Idli rice/Raw rice – 1 cup
Urad dal/split black gram dal -2 tablespoon
Grated  coconut - 1/2 cup
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Tamarind – lemon size
Red chillies – 4-5
cumin seeds – 2 teaspoon
Coriander seeds – 2 teaspoon
Powdered jaggery – 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste


Soal Idli rice/ Raw rice, Fenugreek seeds together with urad dhal for 3-4 hrs or overnight
Grind it to smooth paste. 
Grind Chillies, Cumin seeds, Jaggery, Coriander seeds, coconut with tamarind paste. 
Add this and salt to grinded rice dough. Mix it well and required water to make dosa batter like batter
Heat flat pan and grease it with oil. Take a laddle full of batter and spread it outward. Drizzle oil and let it cook. Turn it over and cook again.

Serve hot
