Mango Chutney - Mango Dip - Easy chutney recipes - Mango recipes

My mum's little garden has couple of mango trees, Imam pasand and banganapalli. It grows by itself (from the thrown seeds). Last year we had a good collection from it.. My mum said she didn't buy any mango and that what she got from the tree was good enough. This year I am waiting for it. Last week I had some visitor from India. She sent some mangoes. She told me she got some new plants too. And this one started giving mangoes this year. Initially she thought it was fruit tree too but raw mango was little bit sour. But to me it is not sour enough for pickle or sambar. I tried this chutney it came out pretty good

Coconut - 1 cup
Raw mango - 1 cup (reduce if your mango is sour)
green chillies - 4-6
Shallots / small onion - 4
Garlic - 2 pods
Salt to taste

To temper:

Oil- 2 teaspoons

Mustard seeds- 1/2 teaspoon

Urad dhal- 1/2 teaspoon

Dry red chilli-3
Curry leaves- 10

Wash and peel the mango skin. Grate it.  Add rest of the ingredients to blender or mixie or food processor. Grind it to little coarse paste with required salt. I prefer this to be little thicker. But you can add water to your taste.

Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds. Let it pop. Add urad dhal, curry leaves, red chilli and fry till dhals are brown in color. Add this to chutney.
Serve it with your rice or idli or dosa or even as bread spread
