Jackfruit seeds Kootu - Jackfruit seeds Gravy recipe - Palakottai kootu - palakottai gravy - Vegetable Gravy recipe

I love Jackfruit seeds. After moving to Singapore this is one thing I miss esp during season in India, Eventhough I get Jackfruit almost everyday getting seeds to do any dishes is difficult. However recently my sis came over for short vacation in Singapore. So my mum had sent Jackfruit seeds with her as my sister also loves it. She has sent so much that I can make a dish just with that.. I made this for pulikulambu and it tasted awesome
Ingredients

Jackfruits seeds - 3 cups (Wash and chop into smaller chunks. Soak it in water for 1 hr)
Moong dhal / split yellow dhal - 3 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - 20
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Oil - 3 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
Rice flour - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Grind to smooth paste

Coconut - 1/4 cup
Green chillies - 3 (chipped finely)
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Fennel seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic - 4 pods


Method:
Grind the ingredients under grind to smooth paste section with little water. Keep it aside
Heat the oil and add mustard seeds let it pop. Add curry leaves and onion. Fry till transparent. 
Add jackfruit seeds and mix well. Add dhal and grinded paste. Add require salt and turmeric powder. Mix well
Add 2 cups of water and close the lid. I have used pressure cooker if not you can close the lid and cook in medium flame. I cooked for 6 whistle. Switch it off and let it cool down
Open the lid and check for consistency if it is too watery add rice flour mixed in 1/4 cup of water. Let it boil. When it is done switch it off 
Serve hot
