Onion Poha roll - Onion Flatten rice roll - Simple snack recipe

I had samosa sheet left over in the fridge. I wanted to try Onion samosa. Since my sheets were small and struggled to get into shape. I decided to make a roll with it. In the end every one in the family loved it. This is a perfect for tea time snack. If you have ready made sheets it is very fast recipe and you can make this for unexpected guests in no time. If you don't have ready made sheets refer to my samosa recipe for making the outer cover.

For stuffing:

Onion - 1 big
Poha / flatten rice - 1 cup
Oil - 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoon
For making rolls:
Spring roll sheets - As required
Oil for deep frying


Run Poha in a blender / food processor to get coarse powder. keep it aside.
Heat oil in the pan and add onion and fry till transparent. Add turmeric powder, Chilli powder, salt and fry for another 2 mins. Add salt, poha and 1/4 cup water. Mix well and cook it. Make sure there is no moisture in the mixture. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Keep it aside
Take a sheet and keep a teaspoon of stuffing and roll it according to instructions in the pocket or in the pics below. Prepare all the rolls
Heat oil in a deep curved pan for frying. Add few rolls at a time
Fry till golden brown. Drain the extra oil and remove it from oil. Place it on kitchen tissue to drain the extra oil.
Serve hot with sauce or chutney
