This recipe is from my mom. Even though I love it I don't really make it as it requires tons of oil. And it is very addictive. If it is there I add it to anything I have from my breakfast to dinner. But whenever I visit my mum or she visits me she will do this without fail. It is really tasty and addictive. Here you go with her recipe
Ingredients
Shallots / Small onion - 1 cup (slice them into 2 or 4)
Ooty Bajji chilli - 4
Oil - 1/4 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 10-15
Salt to taste
Tamarid paste - 2 tablespoon
Dry Roast to powder
Dry Red chillies - 5
Peanuts - 4 tablespoon
Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoon
Bengal gram dhal / chana dhal - 2 teaspoon
Method:
Dry roast the ingredients under Dry Roast to powder and powder it. Since my mum had this powder I don't have step by step pics for that. Will update it next time
Heat the oil. Fry the Small onions remove it from the oil and keep it aside.
Slice the Green chillies into 2 inch pieces Add the sliced Green chillies and fry them till they are crisp. Remove it from the oil.
Now heat the pan and add curry leaves and mustard seeds. Let it pop. Add fried onion and chillies. And Add the masala powder, Tamarind paste and salt. Mix well. Let it cook till you get thick gravy
Store it in air tight container it will last for 1 week (I always finish it within few days)
Yum! this sure looks very addictive!
