Alagar kovil dosa / Azhagar Kovil Dosai

I love pepper also dishes with whole urad dhal. I tried this dosa at my friends place. This is very healthy dosa and high in protein. Perfect vegan protein dish. My kids love it too. You can pre-make the batter and keep it for your busy weekdays. 

Raw rice - 1 cup
idli rice / par boiled rice - 1 cup
Skin split urad dhal - 1 cup
Pepper corn  - 1.5 teaspoon
Ginger  - 1 inch
Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoon
Salt per taste
Curry leaves - 15-20
Oil - for shallow cooking dosa (about 1/4 teaspoon per dosa. If you ask my mum or MIL they will ask for at least 3/4 teaspoon haha.. choice is yours)


Wash and soak the Rice together and dhal separately for 6 hours or overnight
Grind the Urad dhal by adding water at regular intervals. It should be too thick or watery. Take out and add rice, Pepper corns, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger and  grind to smooth batter by adding water at regular intervals  Add urad dhal batter and salt. Grind for another min at the end. Take it out and keep it in container for fermenting overnight or 6-7 hours. 
Heat the flat tawa. And grease it with oil. Pour 1 laddle full of batter and spread it around. Apply oil around it. And let it cook once cooked turn it over and cook on other side. 
Remove it from it from tawa and serve hot with chutney
