I love sweet with Vellam or Jaggery. I remember one of my best friend used to bring sweet rice ada during Karadaiyan nombu. It has been while since I did this. I wanted to post this for up coming Karadayan nombu which is falling on 14th March
Ingredients:
Rice Flour (I have used Iddiyappam flour) - 1 Cup
Jaggery Syrup - 1 to 1.5 cup (Take about 3/4 to 1 cup of Jaggery add water and melt it. Strain to remove the impurity. And return to fire and boil it)
Water - 1 to 1.5 Cup
Salt a pinch
Green Gram Dhal (Whole) - 1/2 cup
Caradamom Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Coconut - 2 tablespoon (small pieces. however I used grated coconut)
Oil for greasing
Method:
Wash and Soak Green Gram Dhal for 4-6 hours and cook it with salt (Don't over cook it)
Heat the Kada and boil the water
In a broader vessel add Salt, Rice flour, Cooked green gram, Jaggery syrup, caradamom powder and boil water little by little and mix it well. And knead the flour make sure there is no lumps. Make Lemon size balls
Grease plastic paper with oil and using fingers flatten rice flour ball on plastic paper. Make a whole in the center and place it on the idli plate. Steam it till its cooked. It might take about 12-14 mins
Enjoy the Adai. Keep it in fridge and it can last for couple of days
