Chilli Garlic Bun

Of all the cooking I never did bread or bun at home. I was hesitating to work with yeast after few failed try. Doing this blog, gave confidence as well as courage to fail. Even though the thought of trying this recipe lingering around my mind for a while I just managed to do it recently. Kids loved it. Seeing them fighting to have the last piece made my day.

Ingredients:

All Purpose flour - 1 and 1/2 cup
Yeast (I have used instant yeast) - 1/2 tablespoon
Milk - 1/4 cup
water - 1/4 cup
Olive Oil - 1/8 cup
Chopped Garlic - 2 tablespoon ( Our family addicted to garlic flavour. you can reduce if you don't want it too garlicky)
Salt as required (I have used 1/2 tablespoon)
Sugar - 1 tablespoon
Chilli flake - 3 teaspoon
Green Chilli - chopped finely 1 tablespoon
Chopped Coriander - 1 and 1/2 tablespoon
Method:

  • Warm the milk and water together till it becomes luke warm.
  • In a wide bowl add the flour and make a dent in the center.  Add the chopped garlic, coriander leaves ,redchilli flakes, sugar,Salt, Instant Yeast and green chilli to the flour.

  • Add the olive oil ,warm water and milk and mix well. Make a smooth dough.  The dough should be soft and loose.
  • Cove it with a cling wrap or moist muslin cloth. I have used cling wrap
  • Let this sit for 2 hours in a warm place ( I have put inside the kitchen cupboard). The dough would have raised by now and must be doubled in its size.
  • Now line the baking tray with butter paper (parchment paper). And grease it with butter using a brush
  • Punch it down and make it into medium sized balls of equal size. If dough too sticky apply oil to your hand
  • Pre heat the oven in 190 degree C.
  • Brush the buns with milk and bake it till it the outer layer turns golden brown colour. Mine took about 15 mins
  • Once it is done, allow it cool for 3-4 mins and brush them with butter.
  • Enjoy it. My kids had it for breakfast and also for evening snack.
My son cannot even wait till I take a snap
