Carrot Sesame Dry Curry (Poriyal)

A very healthy dish with sesame seeds. It is so easy to make it and very yummy. It will be pretty different from normal Carrot poriyal or salad we normally do. It goes well with every rice dish.  for Chappathi if you like dry side dish this will be perfect also. I have labeled this as non Indian for the fact you can do it just with Sesame seeds and Red chillies

Carrots - 4 Cups
Sesame Seeds - 1/4 teaspoon 
Salt - to taste
Sesame powder - 3-4 teaspoon (see below for recipe)
Oil - 1 teaspoon


1) Heat the kada and add oil
2) Add Curry Leaves fry for 5 sec
3) Chop carrots into 2 inch length  slices.
4) Cook carrots with salt by adding little water in a pan by covering it with lid. In between, if required add little water.
5) Cook till the carrots are done 3/4th.
6) Add Sesame Powder and mix it well
7) When the water content from the carrot completely evaporated and carrots are cooked, add sesame seeds.
8) Stir well to make the sesame seeds to coat with the carrot slices.
9) Remove from flame and serve hot with rice.

Sesame powder Ingredients

Sesame seeds - 200g
Red Dry Chillies - 8 
Asafoetida - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt  as required
Urad dhal - 2 tablespoon

Sesame powder Method

Dry roast  Sesame seeds  till it is brown keep it aside
Next dry roast Urad Dhal in same kadai till it is brown in color. Add with Roasted Sesame seeds
Next dry roast Chillies add to roasted ingredients. Let all cooled off
Add Asafoetida and salt, grind to powder in blender and mixie
You have to run in blender in low speed and every time for few sec and leave the gap for few sec and run few sec again
Store it in air tight container
