Bottle gourd / Sorakkai / Lauki / Sorakaya / Sorekai Chapathi (Chappathi)

Eating Bottle gourd once a week is good for health. It keeps the weight in balance. I do almost all type of dish with bottle gourd. It is good for low calorie diet and has high dietary fiber. It is low in fat also. For this chapathi I don't need any side dish. It stays fresh till lunch also.. So it is good for kids lunch box also


Bottle gourd - 1/4 Cup
Wheat flour / Atta - 2 cups
Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Curd - 2 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt per taste
Oil - required to cook Chapathi.


Peel the skin of bottle gourd and grate it using thinner holes.
Add Bottle gourd, Chilli powder, cumin seeds, Turmeric powder and salt
Mix it well. Add Curd and make it to a dough (chapathi dough consistency). The water content in bottle gourd and  curd would be good enough to make dough if water needed just sprinkle little by little
Make lemon size balls
Rollout like thin chapathi (dust it with Plain flour or Wheat flour as required)
Heat flat tawa
When it is hot put the rollout chapathi, add 1/4 teaspoon of oil and cook till brown spot appear. Turn to other side cook it (add another 1/4 oil if required)
Serve hot
