Horse gram masala

Yet another recipe with Kollu / Horse gram. I use lot of horse gram in my diet. I like unique taste of it. normally in my mother / MIL places they use Kollu for porridge. Whenever we start to comedown with flu my mum will definitely do porridge. Till quite sometime ago, I also do just porridge and that too during sick days.. after reading about nutrition and benefits I have started using it more often and in different dishes

Horse gram - 1 cup (Soak Overnight and pressure cook it )

Onions - 2 (chopped)
Ginger - 1 Inch. (finely chopped)
Garlic - 4 Pods. (Finely chopped)
Tomato (big) - 1 (finely chopped)
Green chilli - 2 (slit into 2)
Garam masala -1/4 tsp.
Kashmiri red chilli powder - 3/4 to 1 teaspoon (per spice level).
Subji Masala - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
Salt (to taste)
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp. (chopped)


Heat oil in a pan and add garlic and fry till it is brown.
Add Onion and ginger and fry till is light brown
Add Green Chilli
Add Tomato and fry till it is mushy
Add Gram masala powder, Turmeric powder, Garam masala powder. Fry till the powders raw smell goes off
Add the horse gram and half cup of water. Bring it to boil. 
Garnish it with Coriander Leaves
