Bread Uppuma - Bread Upma

Today morning when I get up I was too lazy to do anything.. To lethargic but still has stomach to feed! so wanted to do something quick but interesting for the weekend morning breakfast. Also I had this craving for sweet chutney.. Easy way to fix both the problem is to do simple bread upuma and have it with sweet chutney. Normally I do this with mixed vegetable.. but too lazy and also nothing left in fridge... So did simple upuma with onion and tomato :-). Also I felt like taking photos in the morning.. It was pouring outside and the light is not good.. anyhow I still decide to do step by step photos :-)


Ingredients:

Bread - 8 slices
Tomato - 1
Onion - 1
Green chillies - 4 Slit into 2
Fresh ginger - a small piece
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoo
Garam masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon
oil - 4 teaspoon
Mustard - 1/4 teaspoon
Bengal gram dhal - 1 teaspoon
Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 10
Salt to taste

Method:
Remove the corners of the bread and cut it into small squares. 
Heat the kada and dry roast bread squares and keep it aside
Chop onion, green chillies, ginger and tomato finely.
In a kadai put the oil and when it is hot add mustard. 
When it pops up add bengal gram dhal and urad dhall and fry till it become light brown. Add chopped onion, chillies, ginger and curry leaves and fry till the onion is transparent. 

Add tomato pieces and fry for one or two seconds. Add chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala along with salt. Mix well. Fry for 30 sec
Then add the bread pieces and stir gently. 
Sprinkle a handful of water, mix it well and close with lid. 
Keep it in low flame for five to ten minutes stirring now and then. 
Remove from heat and serve with sweet chutney
