Black Eye Bean Gravy

Of all the the bean I love the Black eye bean. It blend very well with any vegetables or we can make tasty gray just by itself. It is easy to make also. It requires less amount of soaking time so sometime if I forget to soak other dhals like Rajma or channa I use this


Black- Eyed Beans - 1 Cup
Garlic - 3 pods
Onion -1 and 1/2 big - Finely Chopped

Tomato - 1 and 1/2 of a medium tomato - Finely Chopped
Curry Leaves - 1 string
Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric - a Pinch
Chilli powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
Subji Powder - 2 Teaspoon

Green chillies - 2 slit into 2
Oil - 1 Tablespoon

Shredded Ginger for garnishing

Coriander - 1 tablespoon


Soak black-eyed beans 4-6 and pressure cook till tender.In pressure cooker 3 whistle
Heat 2 teaspoon of oil and add onion and garlic and fry till it is light brown

Add tomato and fry till it is soft
Transfer to mixie / blender and grind to coarse paste ( I did it smooth because of my kids)
Heat 2 teaspoon  oil in a saucepan. 
Add  jeera. Let it cracle
Add curry leaves, Green chilli and fry for 5 sec
Add Grinded paste with Turmeric powder, Chilli powder and fry for 2-3 mins
Add cooked dhal, salt and subji powder and cook till the gravy is in right consistency
Garnish with coriander/ginger.
