Chow Chow Green Gram Kootu

I wanted to do something with no Coconut, less oil and healthy . I used to eat Kootu during my dieting days (with no oil.. Thanks to wonderful invention of non stick). This one has whole dhal even though it has more protein watch out for the qty taken as it is counted as Carb also (In case you are on low carb diet)

1 Chow Chow (Medium) 
1-1 1/2 Onion 
1/2 Cup Green Gram Dhal (whole)
2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
1 Teaspoon Urad Dhal
Few green curry leaves 
4 Green chillies finely chopped (If u hv kids slit into two so it is too easy to spot it)
2 teaspoon Oil
Salt to taste

Peel the chow chow and cut into pieces.
Cut the onions and green chillies.
Mix  Green Gram Dhal ( No need to soak. Just wash and add) and chow chow little amount of water.
Add turmeric powder and salt.
Cook it in a pressure cooker till 2 whistle. Open the lid when it is cool down
Boil it over medium flame till the mixture turns thick.
Keep it aside.
Heat the oil.
Add cumin seeds, green curry leaves and Onion.
Allow them to splutter and fry till Onion is soft and cooked
Pour it on cooked chow chow mixture.
Stir it.
