Cauliflower Gravy - 1

This is one of our favourite side dish for Appam. Original mum recipe had coconut. I have replaced that with nut because Appam also had coconut however now even for Appam we replace the coconut milk with fresh soya milk.


Cauliflower - 1 small
Onion -3
Tomato - 3

Garlic - 8
Cashew nut- 7
Oil - 11/2 tablespoon
Green Chillies - 2
Subji powder - 2 teaspoon
turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 2 String
Chopped Coriander Leaves - 2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoon
Salt to taste


Heat the Kada and add 1 tablespoon of oil
Soak cashew nut in the water
Add Onion and fry it (add salt so that it get cooked quick)
Add Garlic and fry till brown
Add Tomato and fry till the moisture is absorbed. Add Curry leaves and fry for 30 sec
Switch off the heat and let it cool
Meanwhile separate Cauliflower into small flowerlets
Put it hot water for 10 mins
Grind the onion, garlic and tomato paste together with soaked cashew
Heat the 1/2 tablespoon of oil add curry leaves, Green Chillies, Cumin Seeds and the masala paste and fry for 2 mins
add the cauliflower with salt,Turmeric and subji masala
Close the lid and let the cauliflower cooked in medium flame
Once cooked add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the heat
