Davanagere Benne Dosa - Murmur or puffed rice dosa - Karnataka special - South Indian Breakfast Recipe - Dinner recipe

I love to try different types of Dosa. I heard about this from my friends.. It is totally new to me.. Puffed rice / murmur in Dosa? Sounds very interesting right? I have decided to try it out. I searched thro' the Internet for the recipe.. I referred from here
Ingredients
To soak and grind:

Raw rice - 2 cups
Idli rice - 1 cup
Poha / Flatten rice / Pressed rice - 1/4 cup
Urad dhal - 2 tablespoon
Puffed rice - 1/4 cup
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste

To add before making dosa:
1 tbsp maida
1 tsp sugar
A pinch of soda


Method:


Wash and soak raw rice, idli rice, poha, urad dal, fenugreek seeds togehther and puffed rice separately for 4-6 hours or overnight. First grind Puffed rice. Add rest of ingredients. 
Grind it into smooth batter. Ferment it overnight. 
Next day when you are ready to make the dosa add all purpose flour (maida), sugar and pinch of soda. Mix well
Heat the Flat pan and add laddle full of batter and make a slightly thick. drizzle butter / Oil around it. Close it with lid and let it cook. Cook till brown edges in medium flame. Once cooked remove it 
Serve hot

  1. Wow.. that looks yum.. nice idea of adding puffed rice to make dosas..I guess it would make the dosa more soft 😊
