Plantain stem bhaji Recipe - Valaithandu Pakora Recipe - Vazhaithandu fritters - Banana Stem Pakkora - Simple snack recipe - Tea time snack recipe - Kids friendly recipe

When I had asked my husband to buy Banana stem when he visited Serangoon road he brought smaller piece which is not enough to make poriyal even with oats version. Then my helper was saying they make bhaji with it. I never tasted it before. So I had asked her to make it. When Kids tasted it they couldn't even figure it out. It is perfect way to feed your kids ....
Ingredients

Bread - 4 slices (As required)
Besan flour / Kadalai Mavu - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 3 tablespoons
Asafoetida - pinch
Hot oil - 1 tablespoon
Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon (as per spice level)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

Method:

Mix in besan flour, rice flour, asafoetida, hot oil, salt and red chilli powder in wide bowl. Add water to make a batter. It should be in idli batter consistency. If it is too watery it will drink more oil. Remove the sliced banana stem  from buttermilk water / Lemon water.
Dry it out by patting it with Kitchen tissue. Heat the oil in deep curved pan.
When oil is hot, dip each pieces in the batter. Drop it in hot oil. Reduce the flame and cook the bajji till it is cooked. When you drop the Bhaji in the oil keep the flame high and reduce it to cook.
Drain the extra oil and leave it on kitchen tissue paper to drain the extra oil.
Enjoy this simple yet tasty tea time snack
