Strawberry Cornflakes Smoothie - Kids friendly smoothie

I love to try different smoothie for breakfast. It is quite convenient and you can easily make it healthily. If I plan to take just smoothie for breakfast I add Oats or cornflakes. For me it is quite filling. It also quit refreshing. Perfect for breakfasts on the go . You can also have this for a mid morning snack. I also use smoothie as a way to include milk in my daily intake.

I wanted to try this Coconut flavoured Waffles for quite sometime. I do know  my family has liking towards coconut. Same proposition can be used for making pancake.. I made it as Waffles as my kids prefer waffles over pancake. The grids has to be hot before pouring the batter to get good crispy waffles. I loved the flavours in this waffles

I had some left over jackfruits and my kids were home during school holidays so I wanted to try something for their evening snack. I have decided to make cutlet with it. Because of the texture I was pretty sure it would turn out good . After I made I was looking in the net and I saw few recipe too.. I have added beans and carrot to enhance the nutritional values. You can just go with Potato and Jackfruit

My hubby loves coconut flavored dishes. I was getting bored with normal rasam. I had more coconut gratings. I wanted to do something with it. I remembered I had tasted Coconut milk rasam before. So I decided it to give it a try. I made this rasam with home made rasam powder. if you prefer to make the fresh grinded spices you can do so. I love eating tit bits like murukku, mixture soaked in rasam..

Koya / Mawa modak is very simple and rich recipe.  I had this mold for a while but never get a chance to  use it :-) Because my previous helper is good in getting modak shape in hand.. When I saw this recipe in the internet as well as in TV I loved the cute shape of it and you can get that only with mold. So finally I can use my mold!. If you have Mawa this is a very fast recipe. I normally buy unsweeten mawa from India so I had this on hand .. Since this year Chathurthi fell during working day this recipe was perfect fit too

Urad dhal is so rich in protein. some time I make simple salad / sundal with that. Last time when I soaked for vada I had more dhal than needed. So I have decided to try out savory version of kolukattai. I prefer this one over moong dhal. It is very flavorful and very healthy too. Left over stuffing can be served as sundal.

I love kolukattai esp on Ganesha chathurti / Pillayar Chaturthi I literally live on kolukattai. You can vary the stuffing to create new and interesting recipes. Peanut is one of our family favourite. Anything with peanut disappears very fast. My 1st son who is not a big fan of Indian sweet other than Mysore pak. I am in search for some sweet which he likes..So I was hoping that this one will be one of it.. Thank god he loved it. I guess it is because of Peanut

I love this recipe as it is made using moth mean sprouts/matki sprouts ..So this is quick and healthy dish. Sprouts are high in protein and nowadays my family is so particular to have protein rich meals at least once a day!. I made the sprouts in same way as green gram sprouts

This is season of Jackfruits. I saw a bag of jackfruits .. I have posted Jackfruit Seeds Dosa recently. I heard about this from my friend and she told me it is also called as Halasina Beejada Saaru. This is totally new to me. So I took the recipe from her last season itself. But only today I can try (Late is better than never right?). This goes well with steamed rice or can be served as soup.

Whenever I get chance I sneak in flax seeds i do it. I add it in oats, chapathi or rice.. During weekdays my kids prefer to have variety rice. Having pre-made podi / powder makes life easier. This with powder comes very handy when you want to have healthy rice / side dish for idli / or dosa

I saw lot of jackfruit seeds last week when I visited Little India (Serangoon).  I love the dishes with Jackfruit seeds. So Decided to buy it. My helper was asking whether I have tasted dosa using Jackfruit seeds? I thought I didn't hear well I asked again dosa with Jackfurit or jackfruit seeds? She said Jackfruit seeds. Being food blogger I wanted to tryout immediately. And what more she told me batter doesn't require fermentation. We did it for that day dinner. I have tried plain as well as with onion. I loved both version. It tasted amazing when it is hot. Here you go with the recipe.

Japanese Yam Recipe - yamaimo fry recipe - Simple poriyal recipe



I got introduced to this yam by my veg seller. She told me it is good for bone and we can just grate it and cook with rice. But I use this in similar way how we use our senai kilangu or elephant foot yam. yamaimo = Japanese mountain yam.  This yam is really sticky and I wash couple of times before using it.

As I mentioned in previous posts I love jaggery based  sweets. Seedai is one of my favourite both Uppu / savory version and sweet version. But I always had some hesitation to try Seedai because my mum took many attempts to make it right. One of my aunt does it well. So everytime we feel like eating we ask her to make it. Of course making Seedai for a big family is a project. So if you are doing alone do it in small qty :-)

My friend brought uppu seedai to office and I was telling her about my fear of it bursting etc.. to her and she told me that hers is made out of maida and it doesn't burst. Maida Seedai is new to me. I got the recipe from her. I do this for past couple Gokulashtamis. I was not able to post as I stored the photos somewhere I could not get hold of. Recently I was cleaning the shelves and trying to get rid of old computers. And when I saw this photos i was so happy! So here you go with the recipe
