My kids are used to peanut butter, nutella or simple cheese sandwich. I love vegetable sandwich. It is light and very refreshing. It is also good to hide vegetables for your picky eaters. If you have green chutney this sandwich can be prepared in no time. This can be served as breakfast, brunch or after school snack. I have added Sweet chutney and cheese but these are purely optional. My kids loved every bit of it

Our family is not a big fan of milk base sweets. But I like it. Last time when I was India I had this Kala Jamun and I liked it. So I wanted to try this Kala Jamun for a while .. this week when my sis visited me she brought over sugarless koya..so I decided to try this.. Even though the 1st day the texture is hard but next day it was pretty soft. So I recommend you to make it one day before the day you intend to serve :-) you can add a pinch of baking soda if you prefer.

My sis always tells me about Radish Green and Beetroot greens. When I visit my mum she makes kootu out of it as she has fresh radish from her garden during Nov period. I never get chance to take photos. So this week when I saw this in wet market (Singapore farmers market) I couldn't resist. I decided to make Thoran with it.

I love to try different flavour tea. I have posted lemon grass ginger tea. I love the whole experience of making it. I normally make the tea with milk esp for the weekend tea time. Recently one of my office colleague brought home brewed tea to office. I really enjoyed it. It is without adding milk. So now days I almost do this every day.

Garlic chutney - Garlic chutney with coconut - Simple chutney recipe - Simple dip recipe

My mum makes this version of garlic chutney more often. It is one of my favourite chutney for my idli. However you really need to peel a lot of garlic if you want to make this for an entire family. So I don't do this very often or I make when I have other chutney in hand.  I love the flavour of the chutney with Malai poondu. But I don't get that in markets. So I use normal garlic. But if it is possible use Malai poondu for this

This time when I went to India My mum had one cook and I asked him what
his specialty was and he was said Dindigul Thalapakattu biryani. Normally it is done with Chicken. Knowing we don't make non veg at home he was suggesting to make it with Mushroom. I have noted down the recipe. I have followed his recipe.. It came out extremely well

I have seen cupcake recipes with milk powder. I wanted to try for long time. But somehow I keep forgetting to get milk powder. Finally last weekend I managed to pick up some milk powder. So I went ahead to try out this recipe. I have used roasted oats flour. I had Oats powder / Flour at home so I don't have step wise pic for that. If you don't have dry roasted, Dry roast quick cooking oats till nice aroma released and let it cool down. Powder it in blender and mixer.

I love roasted vegetables. Especially bell pepper. I have never tried roasted tomato at home before. I used think that it was very difficult to do. But sometimes perception is very different from actual. I got over it finally and roasted it on the stove top. It is a simple yet very flavourful soup.

Khakhra / khakra is a crispy flat bread , originally a Gujarathi savoury snack. This is one of most favourite snacks when I am back in India (esp during my college days) it is healthy, tasty, crunchy... list goes on. I always get it from my neighbor. After moving to SG I used to buy it. After started blogging this is in my to do list for quite sometime. Always scared of making perfect one I keep postponing. Achari vegetable fried rice - Simple one pot meal

One pot meal really great time saver. Also perfect for lazy days or for a party. It is a must during weekends for me. Mixed vegetable base rice is my favourite for it's nutritional value. It is also good way to finish up the left over vegetable.. Do u agree?. This rice has taste of pickle because the spices used for gravy is similar to pickle

I love kuli / kuzhi paniyaram. It is perfect for a after school snack or for using sour idli / dosa batter. I love the masala / savory version. When I try to replace Millets / quinoa for rice in south Indian dishes 50% millet / quinoa and 50% rice works the best. This is perfect for after school / teatime snacks. Actually first day I made uthappam and next day made Kuzhi paniyaram. Kids enjoyed both.

Palak Kofta Curry recipe - Curry with spinach kofta recipe - side dish recipe - Side dish for roti, rice, fried rice

Are you bored with Palak Paneer or any pureed palak base recipe for that matter? My kids were but had some spinach in the fridge so I had used spinach instead of  palak.  This goes well with fried rice or roti or steamed rice. You can make this kofta for an evening snack too. I had used Kuzhi paniyaram maker for making kofta but if you could deep fry  if you prefer.

I normally like Puli Kuzhambu / Kulambu. It is really very tangy and tasty and perfectly goes well with steamed white or brown rice. My kids love the combo too.. I a am big fan of mixed vegetable based recipe. It is really healthy also gives nice flavour. So when I saw this recipe in one of the cook show I wanted to try it immediately. My entire family loves broccoli (except me). Broccoli is one of the first few vegetables I tried when I moved to Singapore. I normally do roasted broccoli / broccoli wrap. I wanted to do some Indian dish with it. My sis told me about kootu I was skeptical about it. But to my surprise I could finish my serving size.

I always had this belief that any rice / biryani with name of a place it is really good (otherwise it won't be that famous right?) Mostly these biryani are non-veg. When I saw this at Chitra's place, I bookmarked it. My kids love the spicy rice as well as meal maker. So I was pretty sure they will love this. This is perfect for weekend / party meals. I have used less spicy version of Red chillies and I got a lovely color.

Black Sesame, Cornflakes and coconut cookies - Eggless cookies recipe

When I first tasted this the cookies were crunchy, Flavourful and less sweet. I can get the flavour from black sesame seeds and coconut. I really loved the texture and taste. So I requested recipe from my friend. She passed it to me without any hesitation. Her version had 1 egg. I have replaced that with milk.

Karuvepillai Dosai - Curry Leaves Dosa Recipe - Kodo Millet Curry leaves dosa - breakfast, dinner recipe

I always take opportunity to add healthy ingredients into normal traditional dishes. Dosa is one of the easiest traditional dish which can be twisted a bit without altering it's taste. I used to make curry leaves dosa however in this recipe I substituted 1/2 of rice with kodo millet. Curry leaves and millet has huge healthy benefits. This recipe is very attractive because of the cute green color.
