Gobi Manchurian Dry Recipe - Cauliflower Manchurian Dry Recipe with step by step pictures - Snack recipe

My kids are big fans of indo chinese food. Esp Manchurian recipes. I had posted Baby corn Manchurian and Mushroom manchurian before in my space. I make this for snack or as side dish for fried rice. This dish is famous with my office colleagues too. You can make this either as dry or gravy. I do a dry version for snack. I find double frying the cauliflower keeps it crisp for longer time. So I have used double fry in this recipe. If you are going to have it immediately and wants to go with just single fry you can do it also

My kids are very big fans of Thayir / yogurt. So I make lot of yogurt based dish. I have posted Thayir vada (Fried). Thayir Vada (baked)Mor kuzhambu / kulambu Idli in my space before. I actually make these as evening snack esp during weekends. But this can be good healthy after school snack for kids.

Palak Mushroom - Khumbh Pala - Mushroom in spinach gravy - Healthy vegan gravy for roti / rice / naan - Iron Rich side dish for rice / roti / naan

Palak (spinach) and Mushroom combo resulted in a delicious healthy side dish. This gravy is rich in protein, iron and vitamins. We all love spinach and mushroom. Combining both resulted in very tasty and healthy dish. Everyone in the family loved it. This dish can be served with steamed rice / jeera rice / roti / naan. I had followed Palak Potatoes and replaced potatoes with Mushrooms

I love Stuffed paratha / chapati for my lazy or busy weekday / weekend dinner. It is so easy and it can be quite filling as well as balanced. Last week when we visited Delhi for a holiday we stayed in a service apartment. And for breakfast they served gobi paratha with yogurt it was so tasty and keeps us full till lunch. This can be a good lunch box item for kids. It can also be used to sneak some vegetables into kids meal. After my return I tried few times but didn't manage to click the final product. So this time I purposely made it little early so that I can click. Here you go with one of my favourite stuffed paratha

Bombay chutney - Besan chutney - Chickpeas flour chutney - simple side dish for dosa, poori and chapathi

This one my mum does it quite often. I seldom do it because of the amount of onions in it. Traditional one is using besan flour but my mum does with roasted gram dhal (which I will post it shortly). This goes very well with Dosa / idli  I like to have it with chapathi also. If you don't have any vegetable in stock but you want to make some quick dinner you can try this.

Apple Kheer

I love fruity dessert. Also when I make fruit based dessert / sweet I either don't add any sugar or reduce it significantly. I always had this feeling that fruit based desserts are healthier option. I was craving for some quick fruit based sweet. I had nice sweet Rose apple so wanted to try out Apple kheer. Also Sangee Vijay of spicy treat gave me apple and almonds as this month secret ingredients as part of Shhhh cooking secretly challenge (Sep 14). So I decided to do Apple Almond kheer. Ridge gourd gravy - Peerkangai kootu - Tasty side dish for rice or chapathi or roti or naan

I am very big fan of Ridge gourd. My mum does very nice kootu with it. I can mix in this kootu with steamed rice and have satisfying lunch. But my mum serve this as side dish with smabar , Rasam or curd rice. I love it because it is with peanut. Ridge gourd is high in nutrients value. If I am on a diet normally I do simple soup with it.  It is called Hirekayi in Karnataka, Dhodka-Gosavale in Marathi. Turai in Hindi.

Roasted Vegetable Brown Rice - Baked Rice - White sauce rice - Lunch recipe - Kids friendly Rice recipe - Party friendly rice

My mum used to do baked vegetables. Few months ago I used same recipe my mum uses to make baked vegetables to bake the rice also. Kids loved it. From there I do make this rice very often esp for Sunday lunch. I made it with brown rice.

My 1st son loves Mysore pak. In fact that is only Indian sweet he likes. Some time ago I had this sweet  at my friends house. And I was pretty confident my son would love it. But I kept postponing making it for one reason or other. Finally I got to it this time. This is simpler than Mysore pak and tasty too (of course less ghee than Mysore pak). Got the measurement from her. However I made some adjustment according to our family taste.

My Husband and 2nd son are found of Indian sweet esp Jalebi and Jangri. When we visit Indian Restaurant it is a must for my son. He loves both. I wanted to try both for this Diwali however I was big hesitant as not sure whether I can get the shape.. Then I saw numerous video and came to conclusion shape doesn't really matter taste that matter more. So I have decided to try it out. They loved the texture and taste. You can try this with Ziplock bag or bottle.. I prefer to use the sauce bottle in my opinion it is mess free

There are few snacks which are very close to my heart because during childhood when we all assemble at my grandma house it is rituals to do. Each one of is assigned with a task. Pretty much every one is involved in make the dish. But these days we get very good snacks from shops so pretty much buy it every time. Last time When I visited my mum I saw this press and thought of trying out for Diwali. So brought the press from her. This is one of my kids favourite. Now my son says we should do it at home than buying it. If you are doing it alone do it in small batch as it takes some time to roll these. I find it  is faster than making seedai though

Lemon rice is one of most favourite rice for kids. As I have mentioned before they like variety rice over sambar rice. This is slightly modified version from Tamil nadu version of lemon rice. I seldom cook ooty chilli but my mum does lot of dishes with it. Every time I go for grocery shopping I think of picking up chilli which is less spicy but every time change my mind. Recently my kids are more into having spicy food. And last time when we visited Indian restaurant we decided to order something I never do it at home. We ended up trying this gravy for our naan. They loved it and told me the chilli is not that spicy. So I have decided to try this at home.. Came out pretty good and they really enjoyed it

Since my kids are not big fan of Laddu I seldom do it. But I was so tempted to make Besan flour one. I had just little bit of Foxtail Millet flour. I have added it. It gave a nice flavour to Laddu. If you don't have just use the Chickpea flour. This is perfect to satisfy your sweet cravings in no time. This is also suitable for last min festive preparation

Mini cup nutella cornflakes - Simple kids snack recipe - Kids Party snack recipe

I bought 1 box of plain cornflakes and it was sitting in the shelf for quite sometime. Since no one wanted plain one I started looking around for some recipes to use it. I posted Cornflakes cookie in my space before. But even after that I had some left over. So I decided to try mini cornflakes clusters. Since my family loved Flapjack I wanted to try similar recipe. My son gave me idea to mix in Nutella. I remember seeing similar recipe at ezcookbook. I have used my own measurement. For me the sweetness from Nutella was good enough so didn't add any additional sugar / honey if you need it pls go ahead

Thinai Murukku - Foxtail Millet Murukku - Snack recipes - Deepavali recipes - Diwali recipes

My kids love Murukku (Ok Ok I hear you saying who doesn't).. I love trying small variations. Other day when I was clearing the wardrobe I saw Thinai flour (Millet flour) now days if I see any new grain based items I just buy it first and decide what to do.. This murukku came out pretty good and crispy. You will not notice any big diff in the taste...

This dish is my cousin's favourite. Our whole family is not a big fan of Katali but They like the Almond katali she has done when we visited her sometime ago. You can do it either by grinding the soaked almond / badam or just using almond meal. Using almond meal is very simple. I also like the flavour of almond in cookies and cakes. I have done this few times it is so easy and perfect dish to try for beginners

My kids love crisp vegetable fry. Normally I buy Indian I saw this nice local produced Ladies finger at local store. So Brought it. The ladies finger is really very nice and tasted great. Even though I made this for lunch by lunch time everything disappeared. Kids loved it and really simple to make. So this can be served as an evening after school snack also.

Barnyard millet Idli - Kuthiraivali idli - Healthy breakfast recipe - Healthy Idli Rice

This is another millet based recipe. Normally I try 1/2 and 1/2 with rice measurement. For this recipe I wanted to try adding more millet then rice. So I have used 3:1 ratio for Millet and rice. It came out extremely soft and tasty .I will follow this proposition going forward. You can use this idli with any idli base recipes like idli upma, Pepper idli, podi idli etc..

In my last India trip I visited a restaurant. Whenever I visit restaurants I tend to look for Spinach and Paneer based recipes. My kids love it. So wanted to look for any new dish. This is the dish I found during my last trip and it was so rich. From the first bite I knew my kids would love it. I cannot wait to get back anf try. It came out pretty well and as I was expecting, my kids loved it. I bet this is one of the very simple paneer recipe
