Whenever we dine at north Indian restaurants we always order butter naan / garlic naan. I have posted butter naan without yeast in my space before. My kids are so found of naan. Every time I make chana masala or punjabi chole I purposely make little more so that I can make this open sandwich. Some time I make stuffed sandwich with it also. Aloo Methi - Vendhya keerai Potato Dry curry - Simple Side dish for roti / chapathi / chapati

When I brought methi leaves this weekend for some reason it is smaller than normal size but didn't notice it when I picked up. So when I want to make Methi gravy it was not enough .. I remembered aloo methi my mum makes so I have decided to do it. Even my husband who is not a big fan of dry vegetable for roti liked this one.

I was talking to my friend and was mentioning this and asked her how they make fried rice at home. She was mentioning about adding Vinegar. So I have decided to give it a try. I also love fried rice because of pepper. So here you go with my 2nd version of Chinese fried rice

When I saw Schezwan baby potato gravy recipe at Rak's Place I liked it. I have done with cauliflower before but not with potatoes. I bookmarked it to try when I was making fried rice next time. I made few modification to the recipe. It came out pretty well. Even though our family is not big on potatoes they liked it. I also don't prefer deep fried so I have boiled the potatoes.

Missi Roti - Missi roti recipe

I love to try different variety of chapathi or roti. There is so many different variety you can try. This roti brings me nice childhood memories. My neighbour use to make nice missi roti and since we love it every time she sends some to our home. It gives good alternative to Chapathi.

Raita is a must for every weekend meal. It is easy to do and kids love yogurt based dishes. I love crispy boondhi in yogurt. It really goes well with mixed rice. I can have this as snack. For this one we don't need oil at all. No tempering required. So try this very famous yet simple raita.

Everytime I go out with my office collegues their first option is Indo chinese restaurants. They love everything from this Chinese bhel to manchurian to fried rice. Tell me which kid doesn't like noodle (that too crispy noodle) and all the sauces tomato, chilli etc.. This dish combines all these kids friendly ingredients. It is really good after school snack

Cauliflower Sambar - Side dish for rice / dosa / idli

My mum makes this sambar with Tomatoes. However I wanted to try with cauliflower. My husband and kids like this version of sambar. It is kind of fusion between sambar and korma. It goes very well with rice / dosa / idli. It is very good change to the regular parrupu sambar

Soya Chunks Briyani

Soya Chunks is one of our family favourite.. I normally do this rice quite often. This rice doesn't require any coconut and has very minimal masala. Since it is high in protein, it is a good lunch box item for kids. This will keep them full , provide protein need and keep them energized

I love Palak. It makes it easier to make good and healthy side dish. Most of the time I do Palak Paneer. Once in a while I do variation to it. Potato is not something that my kids look forward to have. So I always find ways to sneak it in something they like. I had this Palak Potatoes when I visited my friend. I kind of like it. So I have decided to try. It came out pretty good. And of course no complain from my kids may be because potatoes are soaked in spinach gravy..

Punjabi Channa Masala - Punjabi Chole masala - Panjabi chana masala - Simple sidedish for Roti / rice / Naan / bread

I have posted Chana masala before. But I wanted to try this Punjabi channa masala which is done with slightly different spices. In traditional way there is no coconut added but my mum adds it. I find it adds taste to the masala. So I have decided to add coconut. But choice is yours you can ignore it if you don't prefer to add. This goes well with roti / rice / naan. I normally do chana bread / channa bread with it for next day breakfast. Will post that recipe soon
