Eggless Savory Semolina / rava / rawa Cake

I wanted to try savory baking for quite sometime. Kids love Rava upuma or kichadi. So I thought it would be good idea to try out the Semolina savoury cake. I wanted to try out this for snack. It is actually perfect for brunch or can be good started too
Ingredients:
  • Semolina/Rava (Cream of wheat) – 1.5 cup
  • Yogurt/Curd – 1.5 cup
  • Mixed vegetables– 1 cup ( I have used Beans, carrot, Cabbage and Peas)
  • Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Curry Leaves - 10-15
  • Green chili – 2
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Urad dhal - 2 teaspoon
  • Bengal gram dhal - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt per taste
  • Asafetida- pinch
  • White sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Oil - 4 tablespoon
Method
1. Heat the kada and add 2 tablespoon of oil. When it is hot add mustard seeds. When it start to pop up add urad dhal, bengal gram dhal. Fry till it is brown in color. Add green chillie, curry leaves and fry for 30 sec. Add onion and fry till it is soft. Add all the vegetables and salt. Fry for another 3-4 mins.

2. Roast the rava and mix it with curd. ( I have used store brought roasted rava so no pic of roasting rava)
3. Add baking soda and fried vegetable and rest of oil (except 1/2 teaspoon) to the mixture. Mix well. The mixture will be very thick.
4. Grease the baking dish with rest of 1/2 teaspoon oil. Pour in the batter and level it with wooden spoon. Pre heat the oven for 180 degree Celsius. Bake it for 30-40 mins. Or till the top is brown and when you insert a stick it comes out clean
5. Cool down and serve with your favourite chutney
