Keerai with Soya Chunks

Soya chunks is good source of protein. Keerai has it's own vitamins and minerals. Combining these two provides well balanced side dish. Other day I had some soaked Soya which was in excess and wondering what to do. I was talking to my helper and said to her I don't know what to do with as the qty is less so cannot make any dish by itself also we have also planned our meal so don't want to change.. My son came over and asked me whether I have seen recipe which combines keerai and Soya. I told him no he then recommended this combination and said you have new dish for the blog!

Kerala Kappa Masala - Tapioca Masala Recipe

I Love Tapioca  My mum used to make simple masala but most of the time does chips with it. I seldom buy this vegetable matter of fact it has been quite some time since I did this. Few weeks ago I joined a Face book group Kerala Kitchen who plan to cook dishes from Kerala. First one in the list was to make Kappa Masala.

This Kappa Masala Recipe was adapted from Edible Garden, who is hosting the Kerala Kitchen cookout this month. Slightly modified to my taste.

Urad Dhal Rice

I love any rice which is simple and easy to match. Someone came from India and got me skined half urad dhal. I was mentioning to my MIL sometime ago when chatted with her thro' phone about the urad dhal rice. And remembered to send urad dhal when someone came from India. This rice is simple and easy to match with any side dish. Despite of less ingredients used in this it is quite flavourful rice.

This is pretty similar to what my mum used to do. But instead of Tamarind we use tomatoes in this. This goes well with Idly, dosa, Idiyappam

Fried Momos

I had left over vegetables from my hakka noodles preparation. I was thinking about what to do with it. Wanted to try the steam momos. However my kids preferred fried one. So I have decided to do the fried one. We have big fan club for momos in office. However whenever we go out to have momos we end up working over weekend so we have decided not to eat to avoid working over weekend. So it has been  while since I had momos. It came out crispy and extremely tasty. Initially I wanted to pack to office but in the end it is not even enough for us :-)

Thayir Vadai (Vada soaked in yogurt sauce)

I love the yogurt which is spiced. For me eating plain yogurt is like eating medicine. At the same time if it is spiced I can have it without any issue esp spiced butter milk. Thayir vada is one few initial snack I have learnt in my earlier days of cooking. Those days this is my speciality dish. I have posted Urad Dhal vada (medu vada) and Baked Thayir Vada earlier. Making Vada for Thayir vada is same.
