Due to the water content in pears it is really good to for skin and weight management. It is easy and taste almost like Rasam. It goes well as starter. I love it with bread so I have added shallow roasted bread to the soup
My kids love anything I do with Soya Chunks. It is high in protein. It taste pretty good if u add spices which are used for biryani...Soya based recipes are all time favourite for us. For lazy Friday it is always good to have some stuffed chapathi or paratha because you can just use Raita as side dish and easy to make it as well balanced meal.

Oats Uppuma used to be my favourite before my diet program. After that somehow I am not doing it regularly. In fact my oats intake has been reduced significantly. I like the unique taste of Radish. The smell of Radish also pretty Unique. In this dish, you cannot tell it is radish . It is so tasty. It is good to include Radish as part of regular diet as it helps to maintain the weight. You can do this with Red / White. I have used white one.
My kids wanted something for the Mothers day and for some reason my 2nd son asked for Carrot cake ( I am not sure whether he ever tried before.. not sure why he was so fascinated about it). Any Indian blog will not be complete without biryani rice. So here you go...This recipe I learnt from my mum. Her recipe call for full coconut instead of mixing with soya milk. I substitute the Coconut milk with Soya in 50: 50 ratio. Rest is exactly same.. I find my kids prefer this also. I use whatever vegetable available for this recipe. It is very good for weekend lazy lunch recipe. It is simple yet it will make satisfying meal experience for sure!

I had some left over brinjals / Eggplant from last week. With kids won't come home for lunch I wanted to try out Brinjal Quinoa. It is similar to Vangai Bath but replace rice with Quinoa. I have added some peanuts to the Quinoa to have some nutty flavour. It really came out well. For Masala Powder you can use either Vaangi Bath made at home or store brought one. You can try out with bisibelabath masala powder also
Being vegetarian, whenever I am in US on biz, lunch in our office canteen is not very interesting.So most of the time I have to drag myself to have lunch. Given chance I prefer to have hot food. However and whatever I do this Thuvaiyal is not same as what my mother or MIL does. MIL house they grind it in traditional way (not in mixie) may be that gives the taste. This goes well for More Kulambu and Tamarind rice or vatha kulambu. I did this after long time my kids and my husband were having it for dinner also
I have baked normal sponge cake or chocolate cake. However wanted to try Marble cake.I was browsing for the recipe. I have used this recipe from http://www.ramyaacooks.com/2012/04/eggless-marble-cake-recipe.html. I didn't had the rectangular baking dish I have decided to use normal round baking dish. But the cake become 2 layer cake instead. Hence I named it as two tone cake. It came out real good in taste and a very simple cake to bake. Kids had it for their evening break.
Lately I have started having one amla per day. Normally I have raw amla. This week when I shopped for it I brought more. So before it would get spoiled l wanted to use it. So decided to make pickle. We use only tomato pickle at our home that too from my mum. Sometime use mango pickle from my MIL. At most I do only Raw mango instant pickle (simple one) So this is my first attempt at any type of pickle.. It came out pretty well.
